About Us
Formed in 2010, Whitewater Communications fills a distinct niche in the marine industry marketplace, providing a wide range of professional writing and communications services. Managing director Sam White holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and has over 15 years of real-world journalism experience in the marine industry, having served for seven years as a writer, photographer and editor with the Southern Kingfish Association and another six years as director and editorial manager of the World Billfish Series publications prior to founding Whitewater Communications.
“I grew up on the water in eastern North Carolina and was fishing, boating and diving from a very early age,” says White. “My passion is billfishing for marlin and sailfish: Over the last four decades I’ve been fortunate to travel to some of the world’s top destinations and learn from the best captains and crews in the game. I also enjoy chasing inshore species, bottom fishing and even freshwater fly-rodding. If it swims then I’m game!” This level of experience means that we can translate your marketing message into an effective and affordable communications package that’s directed specifically at your target audience.
White is also passionate about marine conservation, working with a number of clients including The Billfish Foundation and the Presidential Challenge Conservation Series to ensure a bright future for billfish and other species worldwide.
